Léonce Bocquet was a highly successful Burgundy wine merchant and winemaker during the 19th century. He also recognised the excellent conditions offered by Beaune’s underground cellars, acquiring houses whose interconnected cellars became an extensive wine-storage network. Through his trading activities, Bocquet played an important role in bringing high-quality Burgundy wines to consumers throughout Europe.
