Description
Leclerc Briant Extra Brut Divine NV is a refined Champagne from one of the region’s leading biodynamic producers. Its low-dosage style places the emphasis on purity, freshness and the character of the house’s carefully selected vineyards, making it an elegant choice for both aperitif service and fine dining.
Tasting Notes
Bright and finely textured in the glass, with a persistent stream of delicate bubbles. The nose typically reveals citrus zest, white flowers, orchard fruit and subtle notes of brioche and chalk. On the palate, it is dry and vibrant, combining crisp acidity with a graceful mousse, mineral freshness and a long, clean finish.
As a non-vintage Champagne, Divine is designed to express the house style while maintaining balance and consistency from one release to the next. It is delicious now, although careful cellaring for a few additional years can bring greater roundness and more pronounced autolytic notes.
Production
Leclerc Briant is known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture, with an emphasis on healthy soils, low-intervention farming and authentic expression of Champagne’s terroir. The fruit is gently pressed and vinified with precision before secondary fermentation in bottle and extended lees ageing. Its Extra Brut classification indicates a restrained dosage, preserving the wine’s natural freshness and mineral character.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C in a tulip-shaped Champagne glass to allow its aromas to develop. Divine is an excellent aperitif and pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, sushi, smoked salmon, fresh goat’s cheese and delicate poultry dishes. Decanting is not normally necessary, though allowing the Champagne a few minutes in the glass will reveal additional layers of aroma and texture.
Producer
Founded in 1872, Leclerc Briant has become one of Champagne’s most distinctive independent houses. Based in Épernay, the producer has long been recognised for its pioneering approach to biodynamic viticulture and its focus on expressive, terroir-driven wines. The house’s Champagnes are valued for their precision, individuality and elegant Extra Brut style.
