Description

Le Vigne di Zamò Picolit 2015 is a beautifully rare Friulian dessert wine made from one of Italy’s most prized native grapes. Known for its natural concentration, elegance, and refined sweetness, it showcases the delicate, historic character that has made Picolit a treasured name among dessert wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright golden hue that hints at its richness and development. The nose is expressive and refined, with notes of dried apricot, honey, candied citrus peel, acacia blossom, and a subtle almond-like nuance. On the palate, it is silky and harmonious, balancing sweetness with lively freshness and a graceful mineral line. The finish is long, elegant, and persistently aromatic, with enough structure to suggest excellent aging potential and further complexity over time.

Production
Picolit thrives in the hillside vineyards of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where cool breezes, good sun exposure, and well-drained soils help the grapes develop concentration and aromatic precision. For dessert wines like this, harvesting is typically done by hand with careful selection of perfectly ripe grapes, followed by gentle vinification to preserve delicacy and purity of fruit.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for fine pastries, fruit tarts, almond-based desserts, dried fruits, and blue cheeses, but it can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative finish to a meal. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary unless the bottle has aged for a long period.

Producer
Le Vigne di Zamò is one of Friuli’s respected family producers, known for crafting wines that reflect the region’s character and the potential of its indigenous varieties. Over the years, the estate has earned recognition for combining tradition with precision, helping to elevate Friuli as a benchmark region for expressive, terroir-driven wines.
