L'Aventure Cote á Cote 2020

L’Aventure Côte à Côte 2020 is a powerful, Rhône-inspired red from Paso Robles that shows just how far California can push the classic Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre blend. Crafted by French winemaker Stephan Asseo, it combines Old World structure with New World richness, delivering a wine that stands confidently alongside some of the finest southern Rhône examples.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it pours a deep, dark purple that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of blueberry, blood orange, tar, smoked meat, violets, black pepper, and spring flowers. The palate is full-bodied and remarkably complex, unfolding in waves of dark fruit, savory spice, and mineral depth. There’s an impressive sense of balance and drive throughout, finishing long and persistent. This is a wine with serious aging potential and should evolve beautifully over the next 15 years.

Production
The wine is sourced from L’Aventure’s own top-tier vineyard in Paso Robles, where limestone-rich soils and maritime influences help shape its depth, freshness, and tension. The low-yielding vines are harvested by hand, with careful hand sorting to ensure only the best fruit is selected. Aging lasts 14 months and includes a thoughtful mix of 1-year-old French oak, new French oak, cement tank, and amphora, adding complexity, texture, and definition.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, beef tenderloin, roast duck, herb-crusted game, or richly seasoned Mediterranean dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatics and layered structure to fully open up.
