Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden colour. The nose is classic Laphroaig: dense medicinal smoke, sea spray, and a touch of iodine, layered with vanilla, coconut, and a soft sweetness from the oak. The palate is powerful and full-bodied, opening with waves of peat smoke, pepper, and brine before moving into caramel, toasted wood, and a gentle creamy texture. The smaller casks help amplify richness while keeping the whisky lively and energetic. It has very good ageing potential in the bottle, though it is already expressive and well-balanced on release.

Production
This whisky comes from Islay, where the cool Atlantic climate, salty air, and peated malt shape Laphroaig’s unmistakable style. After initial maturation in standard oak casks, the spirit is transferred into quarter casks—smaller barrels that increase the spirit-to-wood ratio and encourage deeper interaction with the cask. The result is a whisky with intensified oak influence, enhanced sweetness, and the distillery’s signature smoky intensity.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas. It pairs well with smoked salmon, grilled shellfish, blue cheese, charred meats, or even dark chocolate for a contrasting finish. Serve at room temperature, and decanting is not necessary.
