Hints of roasted nuts, leather, and baking spices add complexity as it opens up. On the palate, the familiar Laphroaig profile—intense peat smoke, brine, and a gentle medicinal note—is enveloped in velvety layers of sherry-driven sweetness. Flavours of sultanas, stewed plums, salted caramel, and dark chocolate mingle with cloves, nutmeg, and a touch of espresso. Crafted on the southern coast of Islay, Laphroaig 10 Years Sherry Oak Finish is shaped by a wild maritime terroir: Atlantic winds, sea spray, and peat-rich soils that define the island’s famously smoky whiskies. Barley is malted using peat from the distillery’s own bogs, giving Laphroaig its signature medicinal, smoky character, before being distilled in traditional copper pot stills. After maturing for at least 10 years in ex-bourbon casks, selected parcels are finished in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, which impart dried-fruit richness, spice, and extra depth of colour. This careful balance of American and European oak, combined with Islay’s coastal climate, creates a whisky that is both intensely smoky and elegantly nuanced.
