Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a warm golden colour. The nose is powerful and layered, with dense peat smoke, seaweed, iodine, bonfire ash and a hint of sweetness beneath the smoke. On the palate, it is full-bodied and sharply distinctive, combining smoky peat, brine, medicinal notes, citrus brightness and a touch of vanilla and oak. The finish is long, smoky and drying, with lingering salt and maritime character. Thanks to its robust structure, it has excellent ageing potential, though its classic appeal lies in its uncompromising youthful intensity.

Production
Laphroaig is produced on the south coast of Islay, where the whisky’s character is shaped by the island’s maritime climate, peat-rich soils and sea spray. The barley is traditionally malted and heavily peated, contributing to the whisky’s signature smoky profile, while maturation in oak casks over 10 years allows the spirit to develop depth, balance and complexity.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up the layers of smoke and sweetness. It pairs well with smoked salmon, oysters, grilled seafood, blue cheese or dark chocolate, and is ideally served at room temperature. Decanting is not necessary, though letting it rest briefly in the glass can help reveal more of its aromatic complexity.
