Description
Langmeil Steadfast Shiraz Cabernet 2022 is a classic Barossa blend that brings together the richness of Shiraz with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted from 100% Barossa fruit, it reflects the region’s long winemaking tradition and Langmeil’s focus on expressive, well-balanced wines with real depth and character.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a bright, clear red colour. The nose opens with dark berries and ripe plum, lifted by a subtle hint of oak in the background.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, generous and smooth, with dark fruit flavours carried through to a soft finish. The blend gives the wine both plushness and shape, while the careful oak ageing adds gentle complexity. It has the structure to develop further over the next few years, though it is already very approachable now.
Production
The grapes come from Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s most important wine regions, known for its old vines and warm climate. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruit purity, then the wine spends 9 months ageing in older oak barrels, adding texture and subtle savoury notes without overpowering the fruit.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile red that works especially well with grilled meats, hearty pasta dishes and mature cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting briefly if you want the fruit and oak to open up further.
Producer
Langmeil was founded in 1996 by Chris Bitter, Carl Lindner and Richard Lindner, but its roots in the Barossa stretch back much further, to an original estate established in the 1930s on land with a winemaking tradition dating to 1842. Today, under chief winemaker Paul Lindner, the winery is highly regarded for its site-focused approach, minimal handling and commitment to making wines that are distinctly Barossa in both style and quality.
