Description
Langlois Crémant de Loire Brut Réserve is a refined sparkling wine from the heart of the Loire, crafted only in outstanding vintages. Blending Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, it offers a sophisticated alternative to Champagne with a distinctly Loire Valley character. Aged for a minimum of three years in the estate’s underground tuffeau cellars, this cuvée gains extra depth, complexity and longevity beyond that of most Crémant wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, pale gold color with a fine, persistent bead of bubbles that hints at extended aging on the lees. The nose is elegant and layered: notes of crisp green apple, pear and lemon zest mingle with white flowers, chalky minerality and subtle brioche and toasted almond nuances developed during its long maturation.
On the palate, the Brut Réserve is dry, fresh and precise, with a lively yet well-integrated mousse. Chenin Blanc brings tension and a juicy core of orchard fruit, Chardonnay adds finesse and creamy texture, while Cabernet Franc contributes delicate red-fruit hints and structure. The finish is long, clean and mineral, with a touch of autolytic complexity that will continue to evolve over time. Thanks to its extended time in the cellar, this Crémant has very good aging potential for a traditional-method sparkling wine and can comfortably be enjoyed over the next several years.
Production
Sourced from selected parcels across the Loire, the grapes benefit from the region’s cool climate, limestone- and tuffeau-rich soils and excellent natural acidity—ideal conditions for traditional-method sparkling wines. The fruit is harvested by hand to preserve freshness and integrity, with each variety vinified separately to capture its character. After gentle pressing and a controlled, cool fermentation, the base wines are blended, bottled for the prise de mousse, and then aged for at least three years on their lees in Langlois-Chateau’s historic underground caves. This extended cellar maturation builds texture, fine bubbles and complex aromas before disgorgement and dosage to Brut level.
Food & Serving
This Crémant de Loire is a versatile sparkling wine that pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, sushi, and delicate white fish dishes, as well as charcuterie, soft-rind cheeses and light poultry or vegetable starters. It also shines as an elegant aperitif. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F). Briefly chilling the bottle upright before serving is sufficient; decanting is not recommended, but opening it a few minutes before pouring will allow the aromas to unfold in the glass.
Producer
Founded in 1885, Langlois-Chateau is one of the Loire Valley’s benchmark producers of traditional-method sparkling wines. Based in Saumur, the estate has long championed Crémant de Loire as a serious, terroir-driven alternative to Champagne, drawing on extensive vineyard holdings and deep expertise in blending Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Their historic tuffeau-stone cellars provide ideal natural conditions for long aging on the lees, and Langlois-Chateau is widely respected for the precision, consistency and finesse of its Crémant wines across the region and beyond.
