Lan, Reserva Rioja 2018

Lan Reserva Rioja 2018 is a polished and characterful red from one of Rioja’s most modern and successful estates. Made with Tempranillo, rounded out by a touch of Graciano, it combines ripe fruit, structure and classic oak-aged complexity in a style that feels both traditional and contemporary.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet-red color that hints at its depth and maturity. The nose opens with red fruit aromas layered with vanilla, spice and subtle oak notes, giving the wine a warm, inviting character. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and meaty Rioja with plenty of structure and a generous core of fruit. The oak aging brings spice and texture without overpowering the wine’s freshness, and the finish suggests it has the balance to continue developing well over time.

Production
The grapes come from carefully selected 20- to 25-year-old vines in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, two areas known for producing elegant, expressive fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled 28–30°C over three weeks, with pumping over used to build color and enhance fruit expression. The wine then ages for at least 16 months in hybrid oak barrels before spending a further 24 months maturing in bottle.

Food & Serving
This Reserva is an excellent match for braised dishes, game, richly seasoned cuisine, vegetables and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended if you want to open up its aromas and soften the tannins before serving.
