Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2004 shows a deep ruby hue with a polished, graceful appearance. The nose is classic Lafite: refined cassis, blackcurrant leaf, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and a subtle floral lift, with time in the glass revealing hints of spice and earthy complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and impeccably structured, with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and a very precise core of dark fruit. The finish is long, mineral, and composed, with the kind of balance that rewards patience. While already expressive, it still has excellent aging potential and should continue to develop beautifully over the coming decades.

Production
Lafite Rothschild’s vineyards in Pauillac benefit from superb gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and help shape the wine’s lifted, refined character. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work, with careful attention to parcel selection, harvesting at optimal ripeness, and strict sorting to ensure only the best fruit enters the final blend. Food & Serving
This wine pairs wonderfully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, venison, and truffle-based preparations. It also works well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if opening now, especially to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to fully unfold.
