Lacoste Borie 2000 is the second wine of Château Pontet-Canet, one of Pauillac’s most respected estates, offering a more approachable expression of this celebrated terroir. Made in a classic Bordeaux style, it reflects the depth, structure, and elegance that have long made Pauillac synonymous with fine Cabernet-driven wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a deep garnet color with some mature brick tones at the rim, reflecting its age. The nose often leans toward blackcurrant, cedar, cigar box, dried herbs, and subtle earthy notes, with additional nuances of leather and tobacco developing over time. On the palate, it is usually medium- to full-bodied with firm but integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and flavors of dark berries, graphite, spice, and savory earth. The 2000 vintage is a strong cellaring year in Bordeaux, so well-stored bottles may still be drinking beautifully, though the wine is now likely at or near peak maturity.

Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Lacoste Borie draws from the gravelly soils that favor Cabernet Sauvignon and contribute to the region’s signature structure and freshness. As a second wine, it is generally made from younger vines or lots not selected for the grand vin, with vinification carried out in the traditional Bordeaux manner to preserve balance, precision, and classic character.

Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the bottle is still showing youthful structure; older bottles may only need a gentle splash decant or none at all.
