Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a mature garnet hue with brick-red edges, reflecting its age. The bouquet is likely to be layered and evolved, with notes of cassis, cedar, tobacco, dried herbs, leather, and a hint of earthy spice. On the palate, expect a medium to full-bodied wine with firm but softened tannins, good balance, and a dry, savoury finish. At this stage, it is drinking well now, though well-stored bottles may still have enough backbone for a little more cellaring.

Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine benefits from gravelly soils that promote drainage and help ripen grapes evenly while preserving freshness and structure. As the second wine of Pontet-Canet, Lacoste Borie is made from parcels and selections not used for the grand vin, with vinification focused on maintaining the estate’s signature style and approachability.

This is a natural match for roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the bottle is showing signs of reduction or if you want to fully open up its mature aromatics.
