Description
Labruyère Prieur Sélection Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 2023 is a refined white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most respected Premier Cru areas. Morgeot is celebrated for producing Chardonnay wines with a generous texture, mineral depth and excellent ageing potential, combining the richness associated with Chassagne-Montrachet with the precision of Burgundy’s finest terroirs.
Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a bright straw-yellow colour, often with subtle golden reflections. Its aroma profile typically combines ripe orchard fruit, citrus and white flowers with hints of toasted hazelnut, gentle spice and the mineral character associated with Chassagne-Montrachet.
On the palate, Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot is generally full-bodied and rounded, balanced by fresh acidity and a persistent mineral finish. The 2023 vintage should offer appealing fruit and generosity in its youth, while developing greater complexity over the next several years. With suitable cellar conditions, it may mature gracefully for approximately 5–10 years or more, depending on the bottle and storage.
Production
Morgeot lies in the southern part of Chassagne-Montrachet, where limestone-rich soils and clay contribute both structure and depth. The wine is made from Chardonnay, the classic white grape of the appellation. Specific harvesting and cellar details for this bottle are not provided; wines of this style are typically hand-harvested, gently pressed and fermented in French oak, followed by maturation on the lees to build texture while preserving freshness and terroir expression.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C. It is a natural match for roasted or poached fish, shellfish, poultry in a creamy sauce and dishes featuring mushrooms or lightly truffled flavours. It also pairs beautifully with Comté and other refined, mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential when young, but 20–30 minutes of aeration in a broad glass or decanter can help reveal its aromas; older bottles should be handled carefully and served soon after opening.
