Description
Labruyère Prieur Sélection Charmes-Chambertin 2013 is a refined Grand Cru Burgundy with the depth and finesse expected from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most prestigious vineyards. Produced under the historic Domaine Jacques Prieur name, it combines remarkable terroir with an elegant, generous style and an impressive 20–25 years of ageing potential.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep, vivid red colour. Its expressive nose opens with aromas of blackcurrant, strawberry and redcurrant, complemented by the layered, earthy nuances typical of mature Burgundy. On the palate, it is elegant, supple and richly textured, balancing ripe fruit with freshness and a complex, persistent finish.
The 2013 vintage is already approachable with careful aeration, but it has the structure and concentration to develop further in bottle. Stored under suitable conditions, it should continue to evolve over the next two decades, gaining additional savoury and tertiary complexity.
Production
Charmes-Chambertin is one of the celebrated Grand Cru sites of Gevrey-Chambertin, known for producing powerful yet graceful red Burgundies. The wine is made from the region’s traditional red grape, Pinot Noir, and reflects the character of Burgundy’s mosaic of exceptional vineyard parcels. Depending on the vintage, between 50% and 80% new oak is used during élevage, adding discreet spice and structure while allowing the fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to come gently to temperature. A decant of around 30–60 minutes is recommended when drinking the wine young, helping to open its aromas and soften its structure; older bottles should be decanted carefully and only if necessary. It pairs beautifully with poultry in a rich sauce, roast or grilled lamb, red meat and mild, creamy cheeses.
Producer
The story of Domaine Jacques Prieur began in 1868 in Bligny-lès-Beaune. Over time, the estate assembled an exceptionally rare mosaic of Burgundy terroirs, including prestigious appellations and three Clos monopoles. Today, the Labruyère family leads this historic domaine with the support of the Prieur family’s heirs, continuing to represent and preserve the character of Burgundy’s great vineyards for wine lovers around the world.
