Sourced from the sun-drenched provinces of Taranto and Brindisi, it combines ripe fruit, supple elegance, and the richness that has made Primitivo di Manduria such a classic style in southern Italy.

Tasting Notes
Deep and inviting in the glass, this vintage shows a насыщенный ruby tone with plenty of density and youthful vibrancy. The nose is packed with ripe red fruit, layered with notes of cocoa and gingerbread, while the oak ageing adds a polished, spicy frame. On the palate, Ilmo is full-flavoured and smooth, with juicy fruit at the core, rounded tannins, and a pleasing sense of length. The 12 months in oak bring extra structure and depth without masking the wine’s natural drinkability. It is a wine that can be enjoyed young for its fruit and generosity, but it should also gain a little more complexity over the next few years.

Production
La Pruina works with vineyards in and around Salento, where iron-rich shale soils and the hot Puglian climate shape the character of the grapes. Much of the planting consists of bush vines, an ideal training system for the region’s heat, and the estate’s oldest vines are nearly 50 years old. The vineyards are farmed by hand and often organically, with careful selection of native varieties throughout the domaine. After harvest, the wine is matured for 12 months in oak to add texture, structure, and finesse.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for grilled meats, slow-cooked lamb, rich pasta dishes, and mature hard cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine, especially dishes featuring tomato, herbs, and roasted vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if enjoyed soon after opening to let the wine fully unfold.

La Pruina was founded in the early 1980s by Pietro d’Apolito, affectionately known today as Grandfather Pietro, who first planted olive trees and vines before the family turned its attention to winemaking in 2012. Under the next generation, the estate transformed from selling fruit to producing its own wines, and the brand was born. Today La Pruina is present in more than 20 countries and is known for authentic Puglian wines with finesse, drinkability, and a track record of regular awards.
