Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is typically deep, dark, and saturated, with a polished, almost luminous core. The nose is complex and layered, often showing blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, violets, graphite, tobacco, cedar, and subtle smoky, earthy notes that reflect its Graves origins. On the palate, it is dense yet refined, with concentrated dark fruit, mineral tension, fine-grained tannins, and a long, beautifully shaped finish. The 2022 vintage should have excellent aging potential, evolving gracefully over decades as its fruit, structure, and savory complexity continue to unfold.

Production
La Mission Haut-Brion is situated in the Graves appellation of Bordeaux, on deeply gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and help the vines achieve balance and intensity. Although the grape blend is not specified here, the estate is traditionally known for its carefully managed parcels and meticulous vineyard work, with harvesting typically done by hand to ensure only the best fruit is selected. Vinification at the château is carried out with great precision to preserve purity, structure, and aromatic complexity, followed by maturation in French oak barrels to build texture and depth without overwhelming the wine’s natural character.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game dishes, truffle-rich preparations, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for several hours is recommended if drinking young, as it will help open the bouquet and soften the tannins.
