Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby-garnet colour with excellent concentration. The nose is refined and layered, offering dark cassis, plum, graphite, cedar, violet, and subtle smoky nuances, with the classic Graves mineral touch underneath. On the palate, it is powerful yet composed, with polished tannins, vivid acidity, and a long, persistent finish marked by black fruit, spice, earth, and savoury complexity. This is a wine built for the cellar. While already impressive in youth, it will continue to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining further aromatic depth, silkier texture, and greater nuance with age.

Production
Produced in the Graves region of Bordeaux, La Mission Haut-Brion benefits from gravelly soils that encourage excellent drainage and help the vines achieve optimal ripeness. The estate’s vineyards are carefully managed, with hand harvesting commonly used to ensure only the best fruit is selected. Vinification is typically carried out with great attention to detail, with parcel-by-parcel selection and maturation in oak barrels to preserve freshness, structure, and the estate’s signature finesse.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game dishes, truffle-based preparations, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, as this will help open the wine’s aromas and soften the tannins.
