La Fleur-Pétrus lies on the plateau of Pomerol in Bordeaux, where a mosaic of clay, gravel and iron-rich subsoils gives Merlot extraordinary depth and perfume. The vines are carefully tended throughout the growing season, and harvesting is carried out by hand in small parcels to ensure that only perfectly ripe, healthy grapes are selected. In the cellar, the fruit is sorted with great precision before gentle vinification in temperature-controlled vats, allowing each plot to express its character. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new, to add structure and aromatic complexity without overwhelming the natural elegance of the fruit, resulting in a polished yet terroir-driven Pomerol.

To show the wine at its best in its youth, serve it at 16–18°C (60–64°F). Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended while the wine is young to help the aromatics fully open and the tannins soften. As it matures in bottle, a shorter decant—primarily to remove sediment—will be sufficient.
