Description
Chateau la Dournie Dansons Sur la Rive 2025 is a lively white cuvée from the sun-drenched schist slopes of Saint-Chinian, made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Viognier. Bright, expressive, and easy to enjoy, it captures the domaine’s sense of movement and Mediterranean charm in a fresh, modern style. Rooted in a family estate now run by Véronique Etienne, it reflects six generations of winemaking heritage in southern France.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this white shows a golden hue that hints at its ripe, generous character. The nose opens immediately with citrus and light orchard fruit, followed by ripe peach, delicate floral notes reminiscent of budding blossoms, and a subtle spicy edge that adds intrigue.
On the palate, it is fresh, full-bodied, and aromatic, with clear grapefruit and citrus flavors leading the way. Juicy, rounded fruit gives the wine a soft, mellow feel without losing lift, while a gentle creaminess adds depth. Balanced acidity keeps everything vibrant and elegant, making this a wine that feels energetic yet relaxed. Best enjoyed young for its brightness and aromatic appeal, though it may hold nicely over the short to medium term.
Production
The grapes come from Chateau La Dournie’s 45-hectare estate in Saint-Chinian, where 20 hectares of schist hillside vineyards are dedicated to red and rosé AOC Saint-Chinian, while the remaining parcels along the river rest on deeper alluvial soils suited to white, red, and rosé Vin de Pays. The domaine works with 14 grape varieties and follows a philosophy based on nature, simplicity, and respect for the estate’s organic cultural heritage. Each variety is hand-harvested separately at different ripeness levels, then vinified under controlled temperature before the wine is matured for one month in oak.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for seafood, fish, or simply as an aperitif on the terrace. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to bring out the wine’s freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting is not necessary, though a short time in the glass will help its floral and citrus notes unfold.
