L' Aventure, California Cuvée Estate 2019

L'Aventure's California Cuvée Estate 2019 is a powerful yet refined Rhône-style red from Paso Robles, bringing together the richness of California fruit with the savoury complexity of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Produced from estate-grown grapes, it reflects Stephan Asseo's distinctive approach to crafting structured, age-worthy wines in California's Central Coast.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to purple in colour, the wine opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum, layered with violet, Mediterranean herbs, pepper and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, combining ripe dark fruit with supple tannins, lively acidity and a savoury mineral character. Hints of liquorice, cocoa and warm spice emerge on the long finish. Already impressive, the 2019 vintage should develop additional complexity over the next 8–12 years with careful cellaring.

Production
The wine comes from L'Aventure's estate vineyards in the westside of Paso Robles, where warm days, cool nights and calcareous soils help produce deeply flavoured fruit with freshness and structure. The blend is based on classic Rhône varieties, with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre contributing power, perfume and savoury depth. Grapes are carefully harvested at maturity and undergo a thoughtful, small-scale vinification designed to preserve both varietal character and the expression of the estate terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C, ideally after allowing the bottle to breathe. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended when enjoying the wine young, both to soften its structure and to reveal its layered aromas. Its richness and savoury profile pair beautifully with grilled or braised beef, lamb, venison, roasted vegetables, hearty stews and mature hard cheeses.
