Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden hue with an inviting, refined mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, unfolding with brioche, stone fruit, vanilla, and toasted bread, all underscored by the complexity that comes from Krug’s reserve wines. On the palate, it is rich and creamy, with flavours of peach in syrup, ripe citrus, and pine nuts, finishing with a vibrant, refreshing citrus acidity and an elegant, persistent length. Built for immediate enjoyment, it also has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
The 173ème Édition is based around the 2017 harvest and composed from 150 wines drawn from 13 different vintages spanning 2001 to 2017. The blend is 44% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay, and 22% Meunier, with 31% reserve wines from Krug’s cellar library adding depth, texture, and structure. It was matured for at least seven years in Krug’s cellars before disgorgement, with a modest dosage of 4 g/L.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is superb with refined canapés, lobster, langoustines, roasted poultry, truffle dishes, or simply as a luxurious celebration wine. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary, though allowing it a few minutes in the glass can help the aromas open fully.
