Description

Krug Vintage 2004 is a beautifully expressive Champagne that captures the singular character of the harvest and the house’s unmistakable style. Crafted from the classic Champagne trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it spent over ten years aging in Krug’s cellars, resulting in remarkable depth, precision, and finesse. As with every Krug Vintage, this is a one-of-a-kind release that reflects both the year and the artistry of the house.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright light-golden hue that immediately suggests freshness and vitality. The nose opens with vivid notes of ginger, candied citrus, and quince, followed by richer aromas of lemon meringue tart, plum, and mirabelle. On the palate, it is wonderfully balanced, combining delicate brioche and honey nuances with a lively core of citrus fruit—orange, lemon, and mandarin—leading to an elegant, refined finish. Thanks to its structure and depth, it has excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve gracefully over time.

Production
Krug Vintage 2004 is produced from the most expressive wines of a single harvest, selected and blended to reflect the distinctive personality of the year. The Champagne grapes come from carefully chosen vineyards across the region, where terroir-driven fruit is harvested and vinified separately before blending. Extended maturation for more than a decade in Krug’s cellars adds complexity, texture, and the house’s signature precision.

Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poultry, truffled risotto, or aged hard cheeses, and it can also shine on its own as an aperitif. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not usually necessary, though a brief rest in the glass can help the aromas open further.

Producer
Champagne Krug is one of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, founded in 1843 and renowned for its uncompromising approach to quality and individuality. Based in Reims, the house has built its reputation on depth, complexity, and long aging, with Krug Vintage representing a rare expression of a single year rather than a standard house style. Its wines are widely regarded as benchmarks for luxury Champagne and have earned global acclaim for their consistency and character.
