Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir shows the vibrant, polished color typical of premium Pinot Noir, with a fragrant nose layered with blueberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, tea leaf, dried flowers, and a subtle earthy note. The aromas feel bright and coastal, with a lifted freshness that adds energy and complexity. On the palate, the wine is exceptionally elegant, combining vivid fruit with a clean mineral edge that speaks clearly of its cool-climate origins. The texture is refined and silky, with the fruit framed by fine structure and a long, graceful finish. It is excellent to enjoy now, but it also has the balance and concentration to develop beautifully over the next 10 years.

Production
The fruit for this wine comes from carefully selected vineyard sites along the Sonoma Coast, all situated very close to the Pacific Ocean, where cool maritime influence helps preserve freshness and aromatic detail. The vineyards span both the northern and southern parts of the coast, contributing different nuances that come together in the finished wine. Production follows Kosta Browne’s established Pinot Noir approach, with a small portion of whole clusters included and the wine matured for 16 months in French oak barrels, about one-third of them new.

This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with dishes that complement its elegance and coastal freshness, such as roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, veal, or herb-roasted chicken. It also works well with earthy vegetarian dishes and soft-ripened cheeses. Serve at around 15-17°C, and while decanting is not essential, a short decant of 20-30 minutes can help the wine open up if enjoyed young.
