Kosta Browne’s Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021 is a beautifully composed California Pinot that brings together fruit from six of the appellation’s top sites, including Bentrock, Mt. Carmel, and John Sebastiano. It captures the cool-climate precision Santa Rita Hills is known for, with a level of elegance and detail that has helped make Kosta Browne one of the most respected names in American Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby-red hue. The nose is lifted and expressive, with ripe strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry layered alongside tea leaf, basil, and delicate rose petal notes. The palate is fresh and finely textured, echoing the aromatic profile with bright red fruit, subtle herbaceous nuance, and a vibrant, energetic flow. The finish is long and lively, giving the wine real presence and suggesting it will continue to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The fruit comes from six premium vineyard sites in Santa Rita Hills, a cool coastal region shaped by Pacific influence and ideal for Pinot Noir. After harvest, the grapes are hand-sorted, with 10% retained as whole clusters while the rest are fully destemmed. Fermentation takes place mainly in open stainless-steel tanks, with more than 20% fermented in oak, before the wine spends 14 months maturing in a combination of French and Austrian oak barrels, 17% of them new.

This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, herb-roasted chicken, and earthy vegetarian plates. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 14–16°C, and consider a short decant if opening young, though it is also approachable straight from the bottle.
