The Silvaner Ziegental 2021 is sourced from the Ziegental vineyard in Saale-Unstrut, where vines grow on limestone-rich, loess and shell-limestone soils that naturally highlight the grape’s mineral character. The cool continental climate and relatively high diurnal range preserve acidity and aromatic detail, while low yields concentrate flavor. Konni & Evi work with organic, low-intervention principles in the vineyard, harvesting by hand to ensure only healthy, optimally ripe grapes are selected. In the cellar, fermentation typically occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in neutral vessels, allowing the vineyard and variety to speak clearly. Extended aging on the fine lees adds texture and complexity, and the wine is usually bottled with minimal fining, filtration and low sulfur to preserve purity and authenticity.

This Silvaner is a versatile food wine, especially well-suited to delicate, produce-driven and subtly seasoned dishes. It pairs beautifully with freshwater fish (such as trout, zander or pike-perch), lightly grilled or steamed white fish, sushi and sashimi, as well as asparagus, artichokes and seasonal vegetable dishes that can challenge many other whites. It also complements poultry, veal schnitzel, fresh cheeses and simple charcuterie. Serve at 9–11°C to showcase its freshness and aromatic detail.
