Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an almost ink-black color, hinting at its depth and concentration. The nose is intense and layered, with blackcurrant, blackberry, blood orange, black pepper, smoked meat, licorice, tar, and dark earth unfolding with striking clarity. The palate mirrors the aromatic profile, led by dark fruit and savory, smoky notes, then lifted by dried Provençal herbs and spice. It is structured, profound, and long on the finish, with the kind of concentration and balance that promises outstanding aging potential for at least two decades.

Production
The fruit comes from Kongsgaard’s dedicated parcel at Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, one of California’s most respected cool-climate sites. The vineyard’s terroir lends freshness and aromatic precision, while long familiarity with the parcel allows the Kongsgaards to refine the expression year after year. The result is a Syrah of exceptional depth and detail, crafted to capture both site and vintage with clarity.

Food & Serving
This Syrah is a superb match for rich, savory dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, venison, or smoked game birds. It also pairs beautifully with dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, black pepper, or charred vegetables. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
