Kloster Ebernach’s 2024 Cochemer Sonnenberg Riesling Kabinett Feinherb combines the freshness of Mosel Riesling with a gently off-dry style. Its moderate sweetness is balanced by lively acidity, making it an approachable and versatile choice for both casual drinking and food pairing. The Cochemer Sonnenberg vineyard is situated in one of the Mosel’s most renowned wine areas around Cochem, a region long associated with elegant, finely structured Rieslings.

Tasting Notes
Bright and pale in appearance, this Riesling offers a fresh, expressive nose with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, citrus and delicate floral notes. On the palate, the wine is light and refreshing, showing flavours of green apple, pear and lemon alongside the characteristic mineral lift of Mosel Riesling. The feinherb classification indicates a gently off-dry balance, with sweetness kept in check by crisp acidity and a clean, lingering finish. It is delicious in its youth and should develop added softness and complexity over the next few years when stored properly.

Production
The grapes are sourced from Cochemer Sonnenberg in the Mosel, where the region’s steep vineyard landscapes and cool climate favour Rieslings with pronounced freshness and balance. After careful trimming, the grapes remain on their skins for approximately six hours before being gently pressed. The resulting juice is then fermented in stainless-steel tanks, preserving the wine’s aromatic purity, bright acidity and precise fruit character.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C. Its combination of freshness and gentle sweetness makes it an excellent match for spicy Asian cuisine, sushi, lightly spiced poultry, pork, seafood and creamy salads. It can also be enjoyed as an aperitif. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow the aromas to emerge.
