Production
The Riesling grapes for this Großes Gewächs come from the VDP-classified Grosse Lage Westhofener Aulerde, an historically important hillside and plateau that once formed part of the ancient Rhine river valley. Here, deep loess-loam overlies layers of gravelly and clay-rich sands, supplying the vines with ample minerals and excellent drainage while retaining enough moisture to support slow, even ripening. Yields are kept low, and harvesting is carried out by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe, healthy grapes make it to the cellar. After careful selection, the must is gently pressed and fermented, with the wine then matured in traditional wooden casks. This sensitive élevage in wood helps the wine develop texture, refinement and aromatic complexity, while preserving the clarity, tension and elegance that define top-tier Rheinhessen Riesling.

Food & Serving
This dry, structured Riesling is a superb partner for refined cuisine. It pairs beautifully with dishes such as pan-seared scallops, poached turbot, grilled sea bass, or roasted poultry with lemon and herbs, as well as veal or pork tenderloin with light, creamy sauces. It also complements Asian-inspired dishes with gentle spice, like sashimi, sushi, or lightly spiced Thai or Vietnamese seafood. Serve at 9–11°C (48–52°F) to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. The wine benefits from a brief decant—around 30–60 minutes in its youth—to allow the fruit and mineral notes to fully open and the structure to soften slightly in the glass.
