Kaapzicht Kaleidoscope Red 2024 is a vibrant South African red blend from the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, crafted to showcase the character of each vintage rather than follow a fixed formula. With Shiraz at its core and supporting Bordeaux varieties, it offers a polished mix of ripe fruit, spice, and elegance that reflects the region’s reputation for world-class reds.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color. The nose is generous and inviting, with ripe blackberries, cassis, and cherries layered with tea leaf, pepper, cocoa, and warm spice. The palate is juicy and medium-bodied, with silky tannins, a sweet-fruited core, and a rounded, lightly spiced finish. It’s a wine that leans more toward balance and immediate charm than sheer power, though it should also age well over the next few years as its structure settles and the spice notes become more integrated.

Production
The grapes come from the Bottelary Hills area of Stellenbosch, where warm days, cooling False Bay breezes, and varied soils help produce wines with concentration, freshness, and finesse. The different grape varieties are vinified separately, with regular pump-overs during fermentation to build color, aroma, and structure. A portion of the wine is matured with French oak staves, adding subtle layers of vanilla and spice without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an easy wine to enjoy with grilled lamb, beef burgers, roast chicken, barbecue, mushroom dishes, or hearty Mediterranean fare. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 20–30 minutes if you want the aromas to open up a little more.

Kaapzicht Estate is a family-owned winery in Bottelary Hills, north of Stellenbosch, and has been in the Steytler family since 1946. Now led by the third generation, Danie Steytler and Danie Steytler Jr., the estate is known for wines that express their terroir with honesty and consistency, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, and Bordeaux-style blends. Their hands-on approach and commitment to quality have earned Kaapzicht strong recognition both in South Africa and internationally.
