Description

Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 is a classic Burgundy Pinot Noir that brings together village-level finesse and the power that makes Gevrey-Chambertin so admired. Crafted by one of Burgundy’s most respected names, it offers a refined expression of the Côte de Nuits with depth, structure, and unmistakable regional character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright ruby hue with youthful clarity and elegance. The nose leans toward red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry, layered with subtle earthy notes, spice, and a hint of floral lift. On the palate, expect a graceful balance of freshness, fine tannins, and a supple core of red fruit, with savory undertones that add complexity. While approachable in youth, this wine should gain further nuance and harmony with a few years of cellaring, rewarding patience with greater depth and texture.

Production
Gevrey-Chambertin lies in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits, where limestone-rich soils and a cooler Burgundian climate help Pinot Noir develop concentration, precision, and aromatic detail. The 2023 vintage reflects the estate’s careful approach to sourcing and vinification, with an emphasis on preserving purity of fruit, site expression, and balance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, coq au vin, or simply a well-prepared roast chicken. Serve it slightly cool, around 15–17°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the aromas open up.

Producer
Founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s landmark producers, known for its commitment to elegance, precision, and terroir-driven wines. The house has earned a strong reputation both in Burgundy and internationally, with a significant presence across many of the region’s finest appellations and a long-standing focus on sustainable and organic viticulture.
