Jose Pariente, Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Jose Pariente Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a fresh, expressive white wine from Rueda that showcases the variety’s bright aromatics and the region’s distinctive mineral character. Made from fruit that includes some of the earliest Sauvignon Blanc plantings in the area, it reflects both pioneering viticulture and a clean, modern style that has helped define premium Spanish white wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is typically pale straw with greenish reflections, signaling freshness and vibrancy. The nose is lifted and precise, with classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of citrus, gooseberry, fresh-cut grass, and white stone fruit, supported by a subtle mineral edge from the soils. On the palate, the wine is crisp and lively, with refreshing acidity, bright fruit purity, and a textured feel from time on the lees. The finish is clean and persistent, with enough depth to make it enjoyable now while still preserving its aromatic intensity over the next couple of years.

Production
The wine comes from vineyards in Rueda planted on poor, stony soils with very low organic matter and limestone outcrops in the higher zones, conditions that naturally limit vigor and help concentrate flavor. After destemming, the grapes are cold-soaked for around 10 hours before pneumatic pressing. Fermentation takes place at low temperature to protect the grape’s primary aromas, and the wine is then kept on its lees until clarification and stabilization, adding texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This Sauvignon Blanc is an excellent match for goat cheese, asparagus, green salads, sushi, ceviche, and simply prepared white fish or shellfish. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary.
