Jordan Wines’ Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2024 is a polished South African white that combines richness, freshness, and coastal elegance. Sourced from east- and south-facing vineyards in Stellenbosch, it reflects the cooling influence of False Bay and the careful blending of different sites, elevations, and harvest times. This thoughtful approach gives the wine both complexity and harmony, while nine months in French oak adds depth and finesse.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with creamy aromas of butter and vanilla, lifted by citrus and a hint of hazelnut. The oak is well integrated, supporting the fruit rather than overpowering it, and the overall impression is refined and inviting. On the palate, it is silky and rounded, showing flavors of ripe orange, lemon cake, and vanilla, balanced by fresh acidity and a subtle mineral edge. The finish is elegant and persistent, with enough structure to suggest good short- to medium-term cellaring.

Production
The grapes are grown in east- and south-facing vineyards in Stellenbosch, where cooling sea breezes from False Bay help preserve freshness and intensify aromatic expression. Variation in site, altitude, and harvest timing is used to build complexity in the final blend. After harvest, the grapes are immediately destemmed and pressed, then fermented in new and used 228-liter French oak barrels, with 8% of the wine fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve lift and freshness. The wine matures for nine months before bottling.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, grilled lobster, creamy pasta, seared scallops, or rich fish dishes such as salmon with butter sauce. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C. Decanting is not necessary, though a short time in the glass will allow the oak and citrus notes to open further.
