Description

Jaffelin Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir Les Chapitres 2024 captures the elegance and purity that make Burgundy so admired, with fruit from hand-harvested grapes and thoughtful ageing in French oak. Made by Maison Jaffelin, one of Beaune’s historic houses, it brings together finesse, structure, and a classic sense of place in a style that feels both refined and approachable.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful ruby colour with bright, luminous reflections. The nose is marked by crisp red fruit aromas, while the palate is powerful yet supple, with rounded, coated tannins and a seamless balance between fruit and subtle oak. There’s a pleasing aromatic complexity here, with the fruit and wood working in harmony rather than competing for attention. It should drink well in its youth for its freshness and charm, while also having enough structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The grapes are hand-harvested and transported in 20 kg crates to preserve their condition, then fully destemmed and vinified in vats for around 15 days at temperatures below 32°C. The wine is then matured for one year in French oak barrels, with no new oak used, allowing the Pinot Noir character and Burgundy terroir to remain at the forefront.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic Burgundy fare such as beef bourguignon, and it also pairs beautifully with washed-rind cheeses like Époisses. Serve at around 15–17°C to bring out the wine’s fragrance and balance; decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help if the wine is served relatively young.

Producer
Maison Jaffelin’s story is closely tied to the collegiate church of Notre Dame de Beaune, whose historic cellars once stored wine for the church and its princes. After the Jaffelin brothers founded their trading house in 1816, the cellars remained at the heart of the estate’s identity, and today the house is known as one of the smallest of Burgundy’s great maisons, with a reputation built on tradition, precision, and a deep connection to Beaune.
