Description

Jaffelin Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir Cuvée des Chanoines de Notre Dame 2024 is a beautifully classic expression of Burgundy, crafted by Maison Jaffelin in Beaune. Inspired by the historic cellars beneath Notre-Dame de Beaune, it combines the finesse of hand-harvested Pinot Noir with subtle oak aging for a wine that feels both refined and deeply rooted in tradition.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright ruby-red color with clear reflections. On the nose, it opens with fresh red berries such as cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, lifted by gentle spice and a discreet touch of oak. On the palate, it is generous yet silky, with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a smooth, harmonious texture. The finish is elegant and distinctly Burgundian, with enough structure to enjoy now while also suggesting a few years of graceful aging.

Production
This wine comes from chalky parcels in Bourgogne, where Pinot Noir develops its signature aromatics, finesse, and depth. The grapes are hand-harvested, then vinified with a focus on preserving purity and texture before being matured in French oak barrels in the historic cellars beneath Notre-Dame de Beaune.

Food & Serving
A versatile Burgundy Pinot Noir like this pairs wonderfully with roast poultry, duck breast, mushroom dishes, veal, and lightly seasoned game. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decanting is not essential, though a short aeration can help open the wine if enjoyed young.

Producer
Maison Jaffelin is one of Burgundy’s oldest négociant houses, based in Beaune since 1816 and known for its cellars in the historic Caves du Chapitre under Notre-Dame de Beaune. Often described as “the smallest of the great Burgundy houses,” Jaffelin is respected for its small-scale cuvées, terroir-driven style, and commitment to traditional craftsmanship alongside careful modernization.
