Description

Jacques Selosse Millésime 1999 is a truly distinctive vintage Champagne, offering the depth and precision that have made the house a benchmark for collectors and connoisseurs. Crafted from fruit sourced in the Côte des Blancs, it combines Chardonnay-driven elegance with remarkable concentration, finesse, and a long, evolving finish. This is a rare bottle that reflects both the pedigree of the vintage and the singular style of Jacques Selosse.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, with a fine, persistent mousse, the wine immediately suggests maturity and class. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of citrus zest, toasted almonds, brioche, subtle spice, and a mineral, chalky lift that keeps everything fresh. On the palate, it is rich yet beautifully controlled, balancing ripe fruit with a saline, energetic backbone. The texture is creamy and broad, but the finish remains precise and long, with roasted nut, citrus peel, and pastry notes unfolding in stages. This Champagne has excellent aging potential and will continue to gain nuance and complexity over time.

Production
Produced by Champagne Jacques Selosse from carefully selected Chardonnay fruit in the Côte des Blancs, an area known for its chalk-rich soils and exceptional terroir for Chardonnay. The vintage was harvested from top vineyard sites, with the emphasis on expressing concentration, purity, and the mineral character of the region through meticulous winemaking.

Food & Serving
Best served chilled at around 10–12°C to allow its aromatic depth and fine texture to show fully. It pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast chicken with cream sauce, aged Comté, or truffled poultry, and it can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative aperitif. Decanting is not usually necessary, but a short period in the glass can help open the wine’s more complex aromas.

Producer
Champagne Jacques Selosse, based in Avize in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, is one of Champagne’s most respected and influential producers. Under Anselme Selosse, the estate became internationally renowned for its terroir-focused, expressive style and its willingness to challenge convention. Today, Selosse bottles are highly sought after and widely regarded as some of the most distinctive and collectible Champagnes in the region.
