Description
Château d’Issan’s 2008 Margaux is a classic Left Bank expression from one of Bordeaux’s historic classified growths. As a 3ème Grand Cru Classé, it combines elegance, finesse and pedigree, offering the refined style Margaux is known for.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a deep ruby core with the first signs of graceful maturity at the rim. The nose typically opens with blackcurrant, plum and red cherry, layered with cedar, tobacco, violet and subtle earthier notes that emerge with age.
On the palate, it is poised and medium-bodied, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a polished structure that keeps the wine lively and focused. The finish should carry savoury length and understated power, with enough balance to reward further cellaring, especially in a vintage like 2008 that can develop beautifully over time.
Production
Château d’Issan is located in the Margaux appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravelly soils help Cabernet Sauvignon thrive and contribute to the wine’s aromatic precision and structure. The estate’s vines are traditionally harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, with vinification designed to preserve freshness, varietal character and the elegance that defines the château’s style.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromatics and texture to खुल?
Producer
Château d’Issan is one of the historic estates of Margaux and has long held its place among Bordeaux’s classified growths, with the 1855 classification confirming its 3ème Grand Cru Classé status. The château is widely respected for producing wines of refinement, perfume and ageing potential, and remains an important name in the region for collectors and classic Bordeaux enthusiasts.
