Inglenook Rubicon 2017 is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic estate reds, crafted from the finest selections of the Rutherford property and originally introduced in 1978 as a defining wine in the estate’s modern revival. Tasting Notes
In the glass, Rubicon 2017 shows a deep purple-black hue that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is beautifully layered, with red roses, cherry pie, black raspberries and blackberry compote, followed by accents of black tea, incense, cinnamon and freshly turned soil. On the palate, it is medium-bodied but firmly structured, with grainy tannins and a refined, perfumed core of dark fruit, floral notes and subtle earthiness. The finish is long and expressive, with the kind of balance and complexity that suggests excellent aging potential over many years.

Production
Inglenook’s Rutherford estate has been associated with fine wine since 1879, when Gustave Niebaum set out to create a winery capable of standing alongside Europe’s best. For Rubicon, only the top parcels from the estate are selected, with the wine made to express both vintage character and Rutherford terroir. The 2017 blend was composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and a small portion of Cabernet Franc, and was produced in limited quantities.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that shines with richly flavored dishes such as roast beef, lamb, venison, braised short ribs or truffle-infused mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to open up fully.
