Description

Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a beautifully structured Napa Valley classic, crafted from estate-grown fruit in Rutherford, one of the region’s most prized Cabernet sites. With its deep concentration, polished tannins, and unmistakable sense of pedigree, it reflects both the elegance of Inglenook’s winemaking style and the legacy of one of California’s most historic estates.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a medium to deep garnet-purple color that hints at its depth and concentration. The nose opens with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, redcurrant, and wild blueberry, layered with notes of tobacco, pencil lead, spice, and a touch of earthy underbrush. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, rich in juicy black and blue fruit, and framed by firm, fine-grained tannins that give the wine shape and energy. The finish is long and savory, with plenty of persistence and a classic Rutherford character. This is a wine built for aging and should continue to develop gracefully over the next 15 to 20 years, gaining further complexity with time in bottle.

Production
The grapes come from Inglenook’s own organically farmed vineyards in Rutherford, located in the heart of Napa Valley’s premium Cabernet Sauvignon territory. The estate benefits from the area’s warm climate, well-drained soils, and long growing season, which help produce ripe fruit with both intensity and balance. Harvest is done by hand, with careful selection in the vineyard to ensure only the best fruit reaches the cellar. Vinification is carried out with a gentle touch to preserve elegance and purity of fruit, followed by 18 months of maturation in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The final blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec adding complexity and structure.

Food & Serving
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs wonderfully with richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb chops, roast beef, braised short ribs, and aged hard cheeses. It also works beautifully alongside herb-roasted game or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.

Producer
Inglenook is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic estates, founded in 1879 by Finnish sea captain and wine enthusiast Gustave Niebaum, who set out to create a world-class winery on par with Europe’s finest. The estate gained legendary status under John Daniel Jr., who produced the celebrated 1941 vintage from Bordeaux-origin vines brought to the property by Niebaum. Today, under the ownership of Francis Ford Coppola, Inglenook remains a benchmark for premium Napa Cabernet and a name with strong international prestige.
