Description

Inama Bradisismo Colli Berici Cabernet 2021 is a characterful red from Veneto that marries Bordeaux-style structure with unmistakably Italian flair. Built on Cabernet Sauvignon with a significant share of Carménère, it delivers depth, spice, and elegant tannins in a polished yet expressive style. Named after a geological term describing gradual ground movement, Bradisismo reflects the ancient volcanic origins of the Colli Berici hills and has become one of the region’s benchmark reds.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2021 Bradisismo shows a deep, concentrated ruby hue with violet reflections that hint at its youth and intensity. The nose opens with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, followed by layers of dark chocolate, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle bell pepper and green peppercorn from the Carménère. Gentle notes of cedar, vanilla, and sweet baking spice from barrel aging add complexity without overwhelming the fruit. On the palate, this is full-bodied and structured, yet refined. Juicy black fruits are framed by firm but ripe tannins and a vibrant line of acidity that keeps everything fresh and balanced. Flavors of cassis, mulberry, cocoa, and espresso intertwine with hints of dried herbs, licorice, and a touch of smoke and crushed rock from the volcanic soils. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant savory twist. The 2021 has the backbone to age gracefully; it is enjoyable now with a proper decant, but will reward 8–12 years of cellaring, gaining further complexity and silkier texture.

Production
Bradisismo comes from the Colli Berici hills in Veneto, an area defined by ancient volcanic and limestone soils that lend both minerality and structure to the wines. The vineyards sit on well-drained slopes with good diurnal temperature variation, helping Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère ripen fully while preserving aromatic freshness. Grapes are picked by hand at optimal ripeness, with careful selection in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation typically takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, with gentle extraction to capture color, aromatics, and fine-grained tannins without harshness. The wine is then aged in barriques (a mix of new and used French oak) to develop texture and complexity, before blending and further bottle refinement prior to release.

Food & Serving
Inama Bradisismo 2021 is a natural match for rich, savory dishes: think grilled or roasted red meats, ribeye steak, lamb chops with rosemary, braised short ribs, or slow-cooked ragù over pappardelle. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses, charcuterie, and dishes featuring mushrooms, black pepper, or truffle. Serve at 16–18°C (about 60–64°F) to highlight both fruit and structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended in its youth to let the aromatics open and the tannins soften, especially if serving with more delicate meats or refined cuisine.

Producer
Inama is a family-owned estate based in the Veneto region, best known for elevating the reputation of Soave and later for its ambitious, terroir-driven reds from Colli Berici. Founded in the 1960s by Giuseppe Inama and now run by the next generation, the winery has steadily built a reputation for precision, authenticity, and a thoughtful approach to both indigenous and international varieties. Their work in the volcanic hills of Colli Berici helped demonstrate the area’s potential for world-class Cabernet- and Carménère-based wines, with Bradisismo becoming one of their flagship reds. Inama’s wines are frequently praised by international critics and are regarded as reference points for quality and character in the Veneto.
