Il Poggione’s Brunello di Montalcino is a classic expression of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s most respected names. Sourced from estate vineyards with mature vines and aged in traditional large oak casks, it delivers the depth, structure, and elegance that have made Brunello a benchmark wine of Italy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour with the kind of brightness and clarity typical of well-made Brunello. The nose is generous and layered, with ripe black cherry, plum, and a subtle spicy note from extended oak ageing. The palate is beautifully balanced, combining intense, ripe fruit with soft, mature tannins and a long, full finish. While already enjoyable on release, this vintage has the concentration and structure to age gracefully for many years under the right conditions.

Production
The Sangiovese grapes come from Il Poggione’s own vineyards in Montalcino, including vines over 20 years old. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature for 15 days, after which the wine is transferred to large oak casks of 30 to 50 hectolitres, a traditional Brunello method that preserves freshness while allowing the wine to develop complexity. It then matures for three years in oak before bottling.

Food & Serving
This Brunello is an excellent match for grilled veal, lamb, and other richly flavoured meat dishes. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour to allow the aromas and structure to open fully, especially if enjoyed young.
