Il Conte Villa Prandone’s Marche Rocciamara 2024 is a distinctive Italian red from the rolling hills of Ascoli Piceno, shaped by the meeting of Adriatic sea breezes and cool air from the Sibillini Mountains. Its ruby colour, expressive berry fruit and refined tannic structure make it an elegant, characterful choice with a fresh regional identity.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby-red in the glass, Rocciamara opens with inviting aromas of blackberry and cranberry, followed by subtle nuances of white peach, mint, star anise and freshly ground black pepper. The palate is taut and refined, combining ripe fruit with a complex structure and firm yet polished tannins. A balanced, persistent finish leaves a gently spicy impression. It is approachable in its youth, but the stable tannic framework should allow the wine to develop added savoury and earthy complexity over the next few years.

Production
The vineyards lie among the picturesque hills near Monteprandone in the province of Ascoli Piceno, where the influence of the Adriatic and the Sibillini Mountains creates a healthy, well-balanced microclimate for gradual grape ripening. The estate grows Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Merlot, Passerina, Pecorino and Trebbiano; for Rocciamara, red and white grapes are gently pressed and fermented together for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 12–18°C. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and an initial maturation in cement tanks, followed by 12 months in tonneaux.

Food & Serving
Enjoy Rocciamara with grilled or roasted meats, herb-seasoned pork, sausages, mushroom dishes, aubergine, or richly flavoured pasta. Serve slightly cool at around 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential for the 2024 vintage, although 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help open its fruit, spice and subtle herbal notes.
