Hudson Vineyards Little Bit Chardonnay 2023 offers an inviting introduction to the estate’s highly regarded Chardonnay style, combining generous California fruit with remarkable freshness and precision. Although it is Hudson’s most accessible Chardonnay, it is made with the same focus on terroir and balance, from selected parcels in Carneros influenced by the cool waters of San Pablo Bay.

Tasting Notes
Bright and expressive in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with aromas of fresh citrus, white peach, green apple and ripe pear, complemented by white flowers, lemon cream and a subtle hint of toasted almond. On the palate, it is juicy and elegant, with layers of stone fruit, melon and ripe citrus supported by a discreetly creamy texture and a fine mineral edge. Lively acidity brings energy and definition, leading to a long, clean finish. The cool, extended 2023 growing season has resulted in an excellent balance between ripe fruit and freshness. It is delicious now, but should develop additional texture and nuance over the next few years when properly cellared.

Production
The grapes come from selected parcels at Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, where cool maritime conditions from San Pablo Bay and calcareous, clay-rich soils contribute freshness, minerality and character. The 2023 vintage benefited from a long, cool growing season, allowing the fruit to mature slowly while retaining vibrant acidity. All vineyard work is carried out by hand, with the winemaking approach focused on expressing both the site and the distinct personality of the vintage.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. Little Bit Chardonnay is a versatile match for roast or grilled chicken, seafood, shellfish, creamy pasta, risotto and salads with toasted nuts or soft cheese. It is ready to enjoy straight from the bottle and normally does not require decanting, although a brief 15–20 minutes of aeration can help open its aromas.
