Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Premier Cru shows a poised, classic Burgundy profile with lifted redcurrant and raspberry aromas, gradually opening to subtle hints of menthol and darker fruit. The nose is elegant and finely detailed, with a clear sense of freshness and definition. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with crisp, tensile tannins and a firm, grippy structure. Red and black fruit are both present, leading to a more masculine, persistent finish. The wine already shows impressive balance, but it should gain more flesh and complexity with time in bottle, and has excellent aging potential.

La Riotte is a Premier Cru site in Morey-Saint-Denis, where the domaine’s old-vine holdings benefit from the terroir’s characteristic mix of finesse, structure and depth. Hubert Lignier works organically in the vineyards, with no pesticides or herbicides, prioritizing healthy fruit and careful vineyard stewardship. The wine is crafted in a traditional Burgundian style, with an emphasis on purity, concentration and the natural expression of place.

This Pinot Noir is a natural partner for dishes that echo its elegance and structure, such as duck breast, roast pigeon, veal, mushroom risotto or game birds. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if opening young, especially to allow the wine to fully unfold aromatically.

Hubert Lignier is a historic family domaine based in Morey-Saint-Denis, with roots dating back to 1880 when Jacques Lignier acquired vines in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Today the estate is run by Hubert and Laurent Lignier, who oversee around nine hectares and produce wines across Bourgogne village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru levels. Known for depth, structure and long-lived wines, the domaine has earned a strong reputation for classic, terroir-driven Burgundy.
