Tasting Notes
In the glass, Hosanna 2012 shows an inky ruby-purple core that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is seductive and layered, with aromas of ripe plums, black cherries and blue fruits interwoven with coconut, dark chocolate, truffle, white flowers and a subtle graphite-mineral edge. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and multi-dimensional, with a velvety, almost hedonistic mouthfeel. Ripe Merlot fruit brings a cascade of sweet plum, blackberry and black cherry, supported by the more structured, aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc. Silky, ultra-fine tannins wrap around the fruit, giving a skyscraper-like texture that’s both dense and effortlessly smooth. Notes of cocoa, exotic spice and a hint of toasted oak linger on a long, precise finish. Already wonderfully expressive, this vintage still has the structure and freshness to age gracefully for another 10–15 years, and likely beyond under proper cellaring.

Production
Hosanna sits on Pomerol’s famed plateau, where deep clay and gravel soils overlay iron-rich subsoils that are particularly favorable to Merlot, lending both richness and a distinctive mineral spine. The vineyard—planted predominantly to Merlot with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc—is managed with meticulous care, and grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness in small parcels to preserve fruit integrity. After careful sorting, the wine is vinified in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for a gentle, precise extraction of color and tannin. The blend for 2012 is approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged in a high proportion of French oak barriques (largely new) to build texture, complexity and aromatic depth without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
Hosanna 2012 is a superb partner to richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison, and classic French dishes with truffle or mushroom accents. It also pairs beautifully with braised short ribs, game birds, and aged hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gouda. For optimal enjoyment, serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F). Decanting for 1–2 hours will help open up the aromatics and soften the tannins, especially if enjoyed in the near term; older, well-cellared bottles may need a gentler, shorter decant.
