Tasting Notes
In the glass, Hosanna 2011 shows a deep, vibrant ruby core with just the first hints of garnet at the rim, reflecting its graceful evolution. The nose is elegant and aromatic, opening with ripe blackberry, wild strawberry and black raspberry, layered with notes of black cherry, clove, lilac, lily and a touch of forest floor. Subtle hints of mushroom, nutmeg, sweet spice and a whisper of licorice add depth and complexity as it unfolds in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, silky and beautifully balanced, combining ripe, dark berry fruit with a line of fresh acidity and fine, polished tannins. Production
Hosanna is situated on some of Pomerol’s most prized terroir, where gravelly and clay-rich soils, streaked with iron-rich subsoils, give Merlot and Cabernet Franc both opulence and lift. Grapes are typically harvested by hand in small crates to ensure meticulous selection in the vineyard, followed by careful sorting at the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to preserve purity of fruit and aromatic detail, with gentle extraction to emphasize finesse over heaviness. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, a significant proportion new, where it harmonizes, gains texture and integrates its complex bouquet before bottling.

Hosanna 2011 is a classic partner for refined dishes such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck breast or veal with morel or truffle sauces. It also shines alongside mushroom-based dishes, game birds, and aged hard cheeses like Comté or Parmigiano Reggiano. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its aromatic complexity and silky texture. This vintage benefits from decanting: pour into a carafe 1–2 hours before serving to allow the bouquet to fully open and the tannins to soften.
