Description

Höfflin Sekt Brut 2022 is a Baden sparkling wine from Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay with floral lift, apple bite and fine lees texture and mousse. It feels polished from the first pour. The brut finish keeps it dry and lively. The Markgräflerland fruit shows a neat mix of violet, lemon and Pink Lady apple skin.

About the Wine
The 2022 Höfflin Sekt Brut comes from organic vineyards in Baden's Markgräflerland, where loess and limestone sit behind the blend. Pinot Noir gives the wine a quiet red-fruited frame. Pinot Blanc brings pale orchard fruit. Chardonnay pulls the line toward lemon and chalky grip. The fruit profile in this bottle lands on Pink Lady apple skin and elderflower, which makes the blend feel more scented than many German Sekts built from the same three grapes. The wine is made as Sekt by the traditional method, with the second fermentation in bottle and a period of lees ageing before release. The lees contact reads as fine creaminess and a gentle bread-dough note under the fruit. Dosage sits in brut territory. The finish has a dry lemon-peel shape and a faint phenolic nip from the apple-skin character. At 13.5% alcohol, the wine has enough breadth for the table. A light grassy note appears after the bubbles settle in the glass.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Höfflin Sekt Brut 2022 opens with violet, elderflower and a cool herbal scent that recalls crushed grass after rain. The palate has red Pink Lady apple with its skin intact, then lemon zest and a small snap of green herb through the middle. The mousse feels fine and persistent, with lees ageing adding creaminess around the brut dryness rather than a heavy pastry tone. Pinot Noir shows as a gentle red-fruit shadow under the apple, which gives this Baden Sekt a warmer fruit core than a pure Chardonnay sparkler. Drink from 2024 to 2027.

Food Pairing
Serve Höfflin Sekt Brut 2022 as an aperitif with gougères or warm cheese straws, where the fine mousse can meet salt and butter straight away. For seafood, try it with oysters, prawns with lemon mayonnaise or a plate of smoked trout with cucumber and dill. A regional Baden suggestion is Flammkuchen with crème fraîche, onion and bacon, as the wine's apple-skin bite and brut finish sit neatly next to the creamy base. It also suits soft cheeses such as young goat cheese or Brie, especially with a salad of fennel, apple and herbs that echoes the wine's elderflower and grassy notes.

Producer
Höfflin's most concrete signature here is certified organic farming, stated directly on the bottle and carried into a Sekt that smells of elderflower, grass and clean apple skin. For a Baden producer, the choice to make this as traditional-method Sekt from Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay places the bottle closer to a serious table wine with bubbles than a simple party pour. The Markgräflerland setting matters in this 2022 release, since the loess and limestone fruit presents itself through lemon peel, pale apple and a dry mineral edge after the mousse fades. Höfflin also keeps the blend readable, with Pinot Noir adding a soft red-fruit undertone and Chardonnay sharpening the citrus line. The house style in this bottle feels careful and quietly detailed, shown most clearly in the way the floral violet note stays present after the first burst of bubbles. After a few minutes in the glass, the brut finish leaves apple skin, lemon and a small herbal echo on the tongue.
