Description
Château Haut-Brion 2020 is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious red wines, combining depth, finesse, and remarkable precision in a style that has made the estate legendary. As the only First Growth from Graves in the 1855 Classification, it stands apart for its unmistakable elegance and rarity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep, youthful ruby-purple color. The nose is layered and refined, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, cedar, graphite, violets, tobacco, and subtle spice.
On the palate, the 2020 vintage is expected to be concentrated yet beautifully poised, with silky tannins, excellent freshness, and a long, mineral-driven finish. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and aromatic lift, Merlot adds richness and volume, and Cabernet Franc brings nuance and fragrance. This is a wine built for long aging and should continue to evolve gracefully for decades.
Production
Haut-Brion is located in Pessac-Léognan, on a distinctive gravelly terroir that offers excellent drainage and helps the vines ripen evenly while retaining freshness and complexity. The estate’s vineyards are carefully managed, and the grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve precision and fruit purity. Vinification follows a meticulous approach, with parcel-by-parcel selection and aging in French oak barrels to shape the wine’s structure, depth, and balance.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, venison, truffle-based dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to раскрыться and show its full aromatic complexity.
Producer
Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most historic estates, with a reputation that dates back centuries and helped define the region’s global prestige. Located in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, it has long been celebrated for producing wines of exceptional refinement and consistency. Its status as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855 remains a major achievement and a cornerstone of its enduring fame.
