Hartford Court Four Hearts Vineyard Chardonnay 2020

Hartford Court’s Four Hearts Vineyard Chardonnay is a standout Sonoma Coast white made from some of Russian River Valley’s oldest Chardonnay vines. Crafted in limited quantities and highly praised by critics, it combines old-vine concentration with the polished, site-driven style that has made Hartford a benchmark producer in California Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a rich golden hue with a creamy, inviting texture. The nose opens with green apple, pear, citrus, honey, and fresh-baked brioche, followed by layered aromas that feel both ripe and precise. On the palate, expect Granny Smith apple, citrus, pink grapefruit, pineapple, and candied ginger, framed by a refined touch of vanilla from oak. The wine finishes long, exotic, and mineral-driven, with excellent balance and the kind of depth that suggests it will continue to develop beautifully over the next several years.

Production
Four Hearts is primarily sourced from Tom Dehlinger’s Vineyard, home to some of the Russian River Valley’s oldest Chardonnay vines, more than 40 years old. The clusters are pressed whole, then the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak, with 41% new barrels and no filtration, helping preserve both texture and complexity while allowing the vineyard character to shine through.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay is a natural match for lobster, crab, roast chicken, creamy pasta, seared scallops, or rich fish dishes such as halibut with beurre blanc. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider a short decant if you’d like the aromatics to open up even more in the glass.
