Hartford Court Far Coast Chardonnay 2019

Hartford Court Far Coast Chardonnay 2019 is a striking cool-climate Chardonnay from one of Sonoma Coast’s most distinctive high-elevation sites. Grown just north of Fort Ross at around 700 feet, the wine captures both richness and restraint, combining coastal freshness with layered complexity. It’s a compelling example of how site-driven California Chardonnay can balance power, elegance, and a sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, inviting profile with aromas of orange peel, yellow apple, dried fruit, and gentle spice. The nose feels lifted and precise, with a subtle savory edge that hints at the wine’s coastal origin. On the palate, mandarin, clementine, and quince lead the way, supported by a textured mid-palate and a long, mineral finish. The French oak adds depth without overwhelming the fruit, and the wine’s balance of freshness and concentration gives it excellent aging potential over the next several years.

Production
Fruit comes entirely from Far Coast Vineyard, a rugged, cool-climate site perched on a ridge above the Sonoma Coast and framed by redwood forest and Pacific influences. The vineyard’s elevation and maritime exposure help preserve acidity and encourage slow, even ripening. The wine was barrel fermented and aged for 14 months in French oak, including 39% new barrels, lending structure, spice, and complexity.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay is an excellent match for butter-poached lobster, roasted chicken, seared scallops, crab cakes, or mushroom risotto. It’s best served lightly chilled, around 10–12°C, and can be enjoyed without decanting, though a short rest in the glass will help reveal its full aromatic range.
